Bruce came out to the house to measure and estimate the cost for both an insert and doing traditional gas logs. We all decided that logs were the way to go & I then selected a great custom door from them and neat set of logs for our newly converted gas fireplace. While it took awhile for the doors to come in they were sure to give us constant updates and keep track with the vendor to assure we were always in the loop. Upon arrival they installed the logs and doors, cleaned any and all mess that was created in the process and made sure we were comfortable with the operation of the unit prior to leaving.

"I have had a very good experience with Hearth & Home of Marin. For some time, I had been concerned about the inefficiency of my wood burning fireplace and the air pollution burning wood causes. As a result, I did not use the fireplace very much, despite my desire for a warm, romantic atmosphere it creates. I visited several stores that carry gas fireplace inserts to do some comparison shopping and to gather more information. I found the employees at Hearth & Home of Marin very helpful in answering my questions and in providing detailed information on the array of options available. After a second visit to the store, I purchased a Mendota high-efficiency fireplace gas insert and had it installed in my existing living room fireplace. The installation was professionally done and I have not had any problems with using the gas insert.I also was impressed with the workmanship and care shown by the installers during the process. I am very pleased with the performance of the fireplace gas insert. I have been somewhat surprised at how efficiently it heats only the living room and how quiet the blower is. Now, it isused all the time to take the chill off the living room instead of the main heating system. Insum, I recommend others consider replacing their wood burning fireplace with a gas fireplace insert. And, I recommend they consider purchasing one from Hearth & Home of Marin." -Maurice
"My wife and I worked with the owners, Bruce and Bobbie, and chose a gas insert that worked well for the size and style of our small craftsman type home in Kentfield. I was tired of carrying in rain soaked logs during the winter, that smell of smoke that occurred when the fire didn't draw perfectly, and of course the bugs crawling all over our liviingroom floor from the logs. We couldn't be more delighted with our purchase--and more importantly-- the service and confidence we feel with Hearth & Home's total installation. No reason to call in a plumber or electrician to install the gas or electric lines. Bruce does the whole thing and more importantly stands behind the purchase and installation if we ever did have problems (which we haven't after one year). I would strongly urge anyone considering this long term improvement to their home to visit their store in San Rafael. They're more than happy to answer any and all of your questions.
